Photoshop: Which version?

Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 5 (CS 5)

If you have installed Photoshop in your PC or Mac, you may wanna know if you are using the most recent one. You may also wish to know a little background of the previous versions, just out of curiousity. So here they are...the different Adobe Photoshop versions.

1. Adobe Photoshop 7. This is an early version of Photoshop. This came prior to the repackaging or rebranding of Adobe Photoshop into the Creative Suite or CS versions. I was able to use this! It was pretty useful back then. There were, however, a few keyboard shortcuts that were missing. It will make a user kind of frustrated. Good thing Adobe came up with the new ones.

2. Adobe Photoshop CS3. The latter is the third of the CS versions. Adobe made it a point to improve Camera RAW support. This makes photographers very happy! This is actually a type of image file that comes directly from a DSLR camera. We will have a tutorial on how to open Camera Raw files in Photoshop later on. But for now, let's keep it at that. This CS3 version also makes it easier for users to navigate files through Adobe Bridge.

3. Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended Version. The latter has all the features of Photoshop CS3 with additional features such as tools for editing graphics whose formats are used in 3D. It also has analysis tools for images as well as MATLAB integration and file support for DICOM. We won't be digging into those jargon to avoid confusion. Let's just say CS3 Extended is Photoshop CS3 with some added perks for the more technical.

4. Adobe Photoshop CS4. In the release of this version, Adobe included more features for 3D graphics. The content-aware scaling has also been added. It also has an "Extended" version in itself. The latter includes an even more sophisticated 3D support plus capabilities for scientific imaging and high-end film and video users.

5. Adobe Photoshop CS5. This is the most recent Adobe Photoshop version. If you have this, you're up to date. I find this to be truly the best Photoshop version. I especially like being able to navigate through opened files on top of the other. The enhanced content-aware feature is also mind blowing. Most of the tutorials you will find here shall be made using this version.

So that's about it for Photoshop versions. We took a couple of versions out of the list simply because there's no need to discuss them anymore. I hope you guys enjoyed this brief discussion! Navigate through Photoshop-e Tutorials to get more fun and interesting learning materials. :)
